And finally… antisocial media and drug drone drop-off

The thieves pose with their spoils

A pair of Dundee thieves were jailed this week after posting photographic evidence of their crimes on Facebook.

The pair shared photos on Facebook of their £4,000 stolen alcohol haul and subsequently found themselves before a sheriff at Dundee Sheriff Court.Solicitor Jim Laverty, acting for Kevin O’Donnell and John McGrandle, admitted: “The police used the Facebook entry as fairly compelling evidence of their involvement.”

He added: “They both realise custody is inevitable here.”

The theft wasn’t their only crime - McGrandle had also reportedly stolen a £16,000 BMW, parking it in front of a restaurant before going for a meal in full view of CCTV cameras.

He was later involved in a high-speed car chase, during which he “threw a number of items out at a police car, including juice, food and a crow bar”.

Sheriff Alistair Carmichael jailed O’Donnell for 27 months and McGrandle for 25-and-a-half months.

Inmates of an Ohio prison were drawn into a huge brawl this week when a drone dropped a package of drugs in the middle of the prison yard.

The drop-off of tobacco and drugs at Mansfield Correctional Institution was supposed to be discreet, but drew the attention of at least nine convicts.

The hotly-contested package reportedly contained seven packs of tobacco, 70 joints’ worth of cannabis, and more than 100 doses of heroin.

The fighting prisoners were doused with pepper spray and searched before returning to their cells.

The State Highway Patrol is now investigating the origin of the unmanned mystery drone.
