And finally… A Finnish fine and a puppy called Justice

A driver in Finland has been handed a 54,000 euro (£40,000) speeding fine.

Speeding fines in Finland are pegged to income, which means high earners face huge penalties for breaking the law.

When businessman Reima Kuisla was caught driving 64mph in an area where the limit was 50mph, authorities looked at his 2013 tax return to calculate his fine, the Iltalehti newspaper reports.

Mr Kuisla earned 6.5 million euros (£4.72m) that year and so was fined 54,000 euros.

Unsurprisingly, Mr Kuisla was not pleased.

“Ten years ago I wouldn’t have believed that I would seriously consider moving abroad,” he posted on Facebook.

“Finland is impossible to live in for certain kinds of people who have high incomes and wealth.”

The Law Society of Scotland’s staff charity last year was Guide Dogs. It managed to raise enough money to name a puppy – meet Justice.
