And finally… a Brigitte too far

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are suing U.S. political commentator Candace Owens for defamation, following repeated claims that the first lady is a man.
Their lawyer, Tom Clare, told CNN the lawsuit filed in Delaware is a “last resort” after a year of failed attempts to have Owens retract the claims.
“Each time we’ve done that, she mocked the Macrons,” Clare said. “Enough is enough.”
Owens, whose YouTube channel has 4.5 million followers, called the lawsuit a “desperate public relations strategy,” and referred to Brigitte Macron as “a very goofy man”. The 219-page complaint outlines “extensive evidence” that Brigitte was born female. Clare said the Macrons would seek “substantial” damages if Owens continues to repeat the claims.
The Macrons met when Emmanuel was a student and Brigitte, then Brigitte Auzière, was a teacher and married mother of three children. Macron was 15 at the time – and Brigitte was 39.
