Aberdein Considine LLP has strengthened its debt recovery and banking litigation department with two key appointments for England and Wales.

Accomplished costs and debt recovery lawyer Victoria-Louise Maugham joins the firm’s lender services practice group (LSPG) as head of unsecured recoveries, having previously held the role of deputy head of costs and debt recovery at Winn Solicitors.

Meanwhile, experienced banking litigation solicitor Sarah Phelps moves to Aberdein Considine from TLT, joining as a senior associate (banking litigation England & Wales). Both will be based primarily in the firm’s busy Newcastle office.

Banking Litigation partners Jamie Apted and Shilpi Jairath welcomed Victoria and Sarah to Aberdein Considine.

Mr Apted said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Victoria to Aberdein Considine as our Head of Unsecured Recoveries, which is a fast-growing division of the Lender Services Practice Group and one that we’re ambitious to cultivate further. I look forward to working closely with Victoria as she takes on the responsibility for shaping and developing this area of the business whilst also training and mentoring our colleagues.”

Ms Jairath said: “Sarah brings a wealth of experience in secured recoveries and she will no doubt be a real asset to our Banking Litigation team. Both these appointments are testament to our continued investment in the Practice Group, boosting the depth of technical legal talent and complex capability within the department.”
