7 is the magic number for Anderson Strathern

Dominic Scullion

Dominic Scullion, of Anderson Strathern’s dispute resolution department, has become one of the youngest solicitor advocates in Scotland. The addition of 28 year old Mr Scullion has taken the number of solicitor advocates at the firm to seven.

Mr Scullion already has a significant sheriff court, Sheriff Appeal Court and Court of Session practice and specialises in insurance and health and safety litigation, commercial litigation and public law. He is also experienced in conducting fatal accident inquiries for the Scottish Prison Service. Following his admission as a solicitor advocate, Mr Scullion will conduct appeals in the Sheriff Appeal Court and the Inner House for the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration and will be instructed in defender reparation actions for insurers. He will join the firm’s specialist practitioners in the provision of legal opinions to clients of the firm.

Robert Carr, chair of Anderson Strathern and a solicitor advocate said: “Anderson Strathern has a proud history of its solicitor advocates exercising their rights of audience in Scotland’s Supreme Courts on a frequent basis. I am delighted that Dominic has joined the firm’s team of solicitor advocates, making it one of the largest such teams in a Scottish based law firm.”

Mr Scullion said: “It is a real honour and privilege to have been admitted as a solicitor advocate and I am very excited about the prospect of undertaking a great deal of high quality work in Scotland’s courts.”

Mr Scullion joined Anderson Strathern as a trainee solicitor in 2010 and qualified into the insurance litigation team in 2012. Between July 2013 and December 2014, he was a full time lecturer in law at the University of Dundee where he taught mercantile law, delict, public law and human rights.

He returned to Anderson Strathern in 2014 and was admitted as a solicitor advocate on 1 July 2016. He has tutored on a part-time basis at Edinburgh University, has published articles and case notes in Scottish legal journals, and is in the process of co-editing the forthcoming edition of Professor Fiona Raitt’s Evidence.
