500 food bank items, thanks to Aberdeen solicitors and estate agents

CFINE, the lead partner of the Food Banks Partnership Aberdeen, providing food parcels to those in poverty in the city, has benefited from the donation of more than 500 items since the beginning of the year from The Law Practice Solicitors and Estate Agents as part of the company’s pledge to support ten local charities during its tenth anniversary year.

This adds to a big week for CFINE, having been shortlisted in The Guardian Charity Awards 2015 on Wednesday.

Staff at the Holburn Street-based company were asked to nominate local causes to support throughout the year to ensure the corporate donations were aligned with charities that resonated with the team.

Fiona Rae, deputy chief executive at CFINE, said: “CFINE, on behalf of the Food Banks Partnership Aberdeen, would like to thank The Law Practice for their continued support of our food bank. Their generous donations go a long way in helping us to provide support for excluded and vulnerable people living in Aberdeen.”

Margaret Waldron, principal solicitor at The Law Practice, said: “It’s been great to get involved with charitable causes that mean something to members of the team. But thefood bank vote actually came from me. It’s so sad that, despite Aberdeen’s wealthy reputation, an increasing number of people in the city are reliant on food parcels to survive.

“In desperate times, some food banks even have to turn away people, which is heart-breaking. I’m delighted with anything that we can do to support this vital cause in our community and would like to say a big thank you to my team for their ongoing generosity this year.”
