Over 300kg donated by Shepherd and Wedderburn to foodbanks

Staff at Shepherd and Wedderburn’s London office pack donated food

Staff at Shepherd and Wedderburn have donated over 300kg of items to local foodbanks in the last two months.

In the UK, 13 million people live below the poverty line and as a result, every day families and individuals go hungry.

Since 2012, Shepherd and Wedderburn have been regularly collecting items across all three UK offices to donate to local foodbanks.

Staff in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London gathered nutritionally balanced and non-perishable food over December and January.

After receiving donations in Edinburgh, Jean Dickson from Edinburgh North West and Central Foodbank, thanked staff for their efforts:

“This is a fantastic contribution to our work and we are most grateful. In Edinburgh, this amount of food enabled us to provide immediate help to 15 couples providing them with three nutritionally balanced meals to last for at least three days.”

In London, staff organised, wrapped and packed 12 Christmas hampers forHackney Foodbank – located in the local authority with the second highest level of poverty in the UK. The Glasgow South East Foodbank, run by theTrussell Trust, received donations from Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Glasgow office.

Gillian Carty, a partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: “Foodbanks provide a lifeline service to those who need it. They do a fabulous job all year round but donations are particularly needed over the festive period.”
