Woman accused of stalking Frankie Boyle ordered to stay away for three years

A woman who allegedly stalked comedian Frankie Boyle for eight months last year has been ordered to stay away from him for three years, The Herald reports.

Rebecca Gamble, 48, is alleged to have tormented Mr Boyle by appearing at his gigs at The Stand comedy club in Glasgow and the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh while he was there.

Ms Gamble, from Kent, also reportedly tracked him down in Glasgow to coffee shop The Cup and Saucer and the city’s Botanic Gardens.

She is also alleged to have repeatedly approached the comedian, communicated with him and to have contacted him on social media.

Court papers also state that Ms Gamble would loiter around the places she knew Mr Boyle would be and stare at him.

The woman was acquitted of the allegations when she appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week but was ordered to be detained under the Mental Health Act for six months.

Having been psychiatrically assessed for the past six weeks at the Orchard Clinic at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Sheriff Kenneth Maciver was told a six-month compulsion order was recommended by doctors.

Should she breach the non-harassment order she could face a custodial sentence.
