Sheriff Joyce Powrie 

After graduating in law from the University of Dundee in 1977, she completed her apprenticeship with an Edinburgh firm of solicitors and worked in the city until being called to the bar in 1988.

She later joined the bench and was installed as a sheriff at Hamilton Sheriff Court in May 1999 where she exercised her judicial role, mainly in the criminal field, for many years.
