Murray Etherington

The nomination covers a three-year term, beginning as vice president from 31 May 2021, becoming president the following year, and then serving a third year as past president.

Law Society Council members will confirm the nomination at their next meeting in January 2021.

Mr Murray was first elected to the Law Society’s Council in 2015 where he represents members in the Arbroath, Dundee and Forfar constituency. He also serves as convener of the Law Society’s Insurance Committee.

Current Law Society of Scotland president, Amanda Millar, said: “My warmest congratulations go to Murray on his nomination. As a member of the Council for the past five years, and as a committee convener, Murray has shown his commitment to advocating for the profession within his constituency and beyond. He knows the kind of challenges we face, and how the Law Society has worked to support and champion members and protect the public interest through the current crisis.”

On 31 May 2021 Ms Millar will move to the role of past president, and Ken Dalling will become the next president of the Law Society of Scotland.
