Adrian Smith has been appointed to the newly-created commercial director role at Anderson Strathern. A law graduate from the University of Aberdeen, Mr Smith brings extensive business development experience in the Scottish market in addition to international credentials, including from the property sector in Dubai and across the Middle East. He was previously head of corporate relations at Addleshaw Goddard.

Mr Smith’s remit at Anderson Strathern will centre around the firm’s drive for continuing business growth, developing new revenue streams and working closely with the firm’s board and partners on a range of strategic initiatives.

Bruce Farquhar, Anderson Strathern’s chair, said: “The last couple of years, in particular, have seen us add real quality and expertise by way of lateral hires into the firm and Adrian Smith’s appointment fits squarely with this strategic approach.

“It’s great to have someone of Adrian’s calibre and experience in the Scottish, UK and international market joining us. We are looking forward to working with Adrian, building on our commercial strengths following a very strong set of annual results.”

Mr Smith added: “Anderson Strathern is marked out in the Scottish legal sector by the quality of its team, the range of its client base and, overall, the firm’s commitment to excellence.  I’m greatly looking forward to supporting and developing the firm as we enter the next phase of growth.”

Anderson Strathern’s managing partner, Murray McCall, commented: “We’ve known Adrian for a number of years, have always been impressed with both his resume and his ability to drive performance and growth, and we’re extremely pleased to have him join our team.

“With a renewed commercial focus in our offering to clients and the launch of our Brexit Hub with plenty of business-related advice for Scotland plc, Adrian is a welcome addition to our business development team.”
