Anderson Strathern announces partner hire to boost family law team

(L-R): David Coutts, Janice Jones and Jennifer Wilkie

Anderson Strathern has continued its pattern of growth through lateral hires and acquisitions by announcing the arrival of Janice Jones from Harper Macleod. Ms Jones will be a partner in the family law team in the dispute resolution department and joins a team of specialist practitioners based in the firm’s Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.

She has over 20 years of experience in family law work and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law. She works across the full range of family law actions including divorce, cases involving children and also cohabitants claims. Janice has also developed a practice in pre and post nuptial agreements and living together agreements (for unmarried couples).

Ms Jones joins senior associate Jennifer Wilkie, who specialises in complex divorce cases focused on financial elements and works with private individuals on wealth-planning including pre-nuptial agreements and agreements between cohabitants. Also in the firm’s family law team is senior solicitor David Coutts who focuses on financial provision in divorce cases and difficult care arrangements for children. Mr Coutts also leads the firm’s public sector child law work and represents our local authority client in pursuing their applications for adoption and permanence orders.

Ms Jones said: “The opportunity to lead such a dynamic team in a firm that has consistently shown its desire and ability to grow and develop its client offering was clearly one that I could not pass up. Family law increasingly interacts with all other areas of the law, both commercial and personal, and the joined-up approach of Anderson Strathern means that I, and my colleagues in the team, will be able to assist on a firm-wide basis in delivering solutions to clients.”

Murray McCall, managing partner, said: “We are delighted to welcome a partner of the calibre of Janice Jones to Anderson Strathern. Janice will not only head up the Family Law Team, she will also oversee its development in Glasgow as well as in Edinburgh.”
