And finally… no pantyhose cravings before 10pm

Online booksellers in Germany have been told that if they sell erotic ebooks before 10pm they could be fined tens of thousands of euros.

The move comes after a memoir entitled Schlauchgelüste (Pantyhose Cravings) prompted a legal complaint over the fact it was easily accessible.

The Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien, Germany’s Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons, decided to enforce a law from 2002 applying to films, seemingly unaware that content can be downloaded from the internet at any time.

Trade blogger Nate Hoffelder said: ”Given the prevalence of adult content on websites outside of Germany, trying to control access on sites in Germany is just nuts.

“Even King Canute knew that he could not hold back the tide, but apparently German regulators lack that level of common sense.”
