And finally… for shame

Howard Kennedy has taken a novel approach to under-performance by blocking the computers of lawyers who fail to work seven hours a day.

The London firm expects its lawyers to work at least 5.6 billable hours per day, The Lawyer reports, as well as carrying out non-billable work.

Meanwhile, lawyers who fail to meet the targets over the period of a month will have their computers “blocked” by the IT department.

This means they would be forced to have their computer unblocked to continue with their work - a move designed to “shame” lawyers with poor timekeeping, according to real estate chairman Julian Hindmarsh.
