Diploma Graduate - Business Development Team

Due to expansion, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Diploma graduate to join our award winning Business Development department. The Business Development team comprises three main work streams: HM Connect, Website Referrals and Bids & Tenders. We would love for a Diploma graduate to join our team of seven business development solicitors to support our work on HM Connect & Website based referrals and enquiries.
You will be a legal graduate who has recently competed the diploma and who has not yet secured a traineeship. We’d like to offer you the opportunity of working within the business side of a law firm and to cultivate an alternative career in the legal sector.
You will have an active interest in the operation of the Scottish legal marketplace and the business of providing legal services. If you can bring creativity and flair to a role that requires you to think outside of the box, you’ll fit right in.
Your role will be to work with Partners Anne Macdonald & Amy Walsh and the wider HM Connect and Website Referral team to assist with new client acquisition and engagement and new business to Harper Macleod.
You will be involved in the following areas:
- Supporting the HM Connect team with member law firm enquiries and referrals
- Working as part of the Website Enquiry team, dealing with prospective client enquiries within strict timeframes
- Undertaking conflict of interest searches and identifying any attendant risks
- Utilising a case management system to log and maintain all enquiries and referrals
- Liaising with client advisors at all levels across the firm to ensure referrals and enquiries are allocated properly and within in agreed time limits
To be considered for this role, you must have the following skills and experience:
- Hold an LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice
- The ability to flourish in a fast-paced environment
- First rate communication skills; written and oral
- Strong teamwork mentality and commercial understanding
- Be able to engage positively at all levels in the firm
- Passionate about client care
- Creativity and an open mind to new ideas
