An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Research Business Development and Contracts section at the University of St Andrews.
Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent), with a legal background and preferably holding a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice (or equivalent), you will be a team player with the ability to work and build strong relationships with academics and research sponsors. A self-starter, you will possess excellent attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and be able to use your initiative in order to meet deadlines and service standards.
Duties and responsibilities will include negotiating and drafting of formal lower risk research contracts which balance risk and intellectual benefit, including negotiating with external funders and partners ensuring that the University’s interests are protected.
Experience in a similar role in a University, a legal environment or in a solicitor’s office and an understanding of research and the Higher Education sector would be advantageous.
