Assistant Managing Solicitor (Contracts & Procurement Scotland Excel)

This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to join our busy and friendly team to assist in the provision of legal support to Scotland Excel, the Centre of Procurement Expertise for Scotland’s local government sector.
You must have extensive experience of drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex and high value contracts and framework agreements, along with experience in procurement, company, and local government law. You must also demonstrate an awareness of legislative developments; research skills; and report writing skills.
Key requirements of the role include the abilities to deal with complex legal matters quickly and accurately; to provide quality legal advice and support in a range of formats; to identify a range of solutions and recommend the best option; and to identify wider corporate issues arising from contracts and procurement work.
You must hold a current Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland and have a minimum of two years’ experience in contracts and procurement law. You will be able to undertake a range of diverse tasks and achieve successful outcomes, and to prioritise a varied workload while working with minimum supervision, with all work carried out to a high standard within set timescales. Effective interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work as a team member as well as on your own initiative; and the ability to develop links with elected members and clients are essential too.
