The role

We are seeking a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join our Commercial Property team in Glasgow. The team led by Andy McFarlane, help businesses buy, sell, lease and develop all types of land and buildings throughout Scotland as well as in England and Wales. We have a need for a new member in the team to meet an increasing workload from existing and newly won clients.

Your supervising partner will be Joanne Ockrim but the role will extend beyond assisting Joanne. It will principally involve work for both general commercial property teams in Glasgow (reporting to partners and associates). Initially the role will also involve providing some support to the Energy team during a period of maternity leave.

Team members are expected to work hard and collaboratively to achieve deadlines; provide a great service; and be technically excellent, all whilst retaining a sense of humour. General and bespoke training will be provided to develop your technical skills and your commercial awareness.

The candidate

As well as having a commercial property seat as a Trainee, you should be able to work on your own initiative on the portfolio of transactions, be focused on time management and operate to deadlines. You should be able to build rapport and communicate positively and effectively with clients, other legal representatives and other involved parties. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing an excellent level of client service, show initiative, have a positive attitude and be proactive.

The department is minded to support individuals who want to add to their professional qualifications to make themselves and the team more marketable. Ideally candidates should be enthusiastic to develop their own and the firm‘s networks with a view to assisting in business development.
