Liana Di Ciacca has joined Shoosmiths’ Edinburgh office as a senior associate with a focus on banking and finance.

A high calibre banking lawyer in Scotland, Ms Di Ciacca will work closely with Edinburgh based corporate and banking partner Stuart Murray, senior associate and property finance expert Sheelagh Cooley and the wider team.

Her move to Shoosmiths comes after seven years with CMS in Edinburgh where she was a respected senior associate in banking and finance.

A specialist in corporate lending and leverage finance, her experience includes acquisition finance, investment and development finance. Ms Di Ciacca has acted for major financial institutions as lender and for corporate borrowers in the private and public sectors on both a syndicated and bilateral basis. She also brings clients solid experience of leading on cross border transactions.

Her appointment is the second in a month by the corporate team in Scotland after Emily McQueen joined Shoosmiths in January as a solicitor from Turcan Connell.

Partner Alison Gilson, who heads up the corporate team, said: “Over the past few years we have significantly developed our portfolio in Scotland’s banking sector.

“UK-wide, we act for a range of lenders and borrowers, including many of the high street and challenger banks. Our corporate team in Edinburgh often collaborates with colleagues down south on complex deals and cross-border transaction activity.

“In Liana we are recruiting a high calibre banking lawyer who comes to our dynamic team with a very impressive track record. She will help us to further grow our banking business in Scotland and support corporate activity across Shoosmiths’ UK-wide offices. Reflecting Shoosmiths’ commitment to identify engaging and talented lawyers, I am very confident Liana will be a tremendous asset for our clients.”
