Scottish Feminist Judgments Project hailed at student awards

Professor Sharon Cowan and Dr Chloë Kennedy

Earlier this month, Professor Sharon Cowan and Dr Chloë Kennedy were announced as winners of a teaching award at Edinburgh University.

Their success in the category of ‘Outstanding Commitment to Liberation in the Curriculum’ at the 2020 EUSA Teaching Awards was announced in a virtual ceremony held on the student association’s Facebook Page.

Professor Cowan and Dr Kennedy co-ordinate the Scottish Feminist Judgments Project (SFJP) along with Professor Vanessa Munro of the University of Warwick.

The project is one of a global series that aims to imagine how important legal cases might have been decided differently if the judge had adopted a feminist perspective.

In a video acceptance, they talked about their 200-mile cycle tour bringing workshops to universities across the country and thanked the team of 42 who helped them bring the project to fruition as well as the students who engaged with the project.
