New judge appointed to EU General Court

A new judge has been appointed to the General Court of the European Union.
Mr Geert De Baere has been appointed for a term of five years. A formal sitting of the Court of Justice took place today for the taking of the oath of the new judge.
Mr De Baere studied at the Universities of Antwerp and Cambridge and held various academic posts including that of associate professor (from 2016) in EU law and international law at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven);.
He was legal secretary at the CJEU in the chambers of Advocate General Sharpston (2007-09) and subsequently of Judge Prechal (2016-17).
