The latest edition of the Edinburgh Student Law Review (ESLR) has been launched at an event at Old College.

The evening featured speeches from outgoing editors in chief, Shona Warwick and Dionysios Pelekis and Dr Andrew Steven, senior lecturer at Edinburgh Law School, former Scottish law commissioner and honorary secretary of the ESLR. It was also announced that Jochem Koers and Sebastian Jedrzejewski will be taking over as the new editors-in-chief.

The ESLR is the oldest student-run law review in Scotland and is sponsored by Turcan Connell and DLA Piper. This was a record year for the ESLR – it received more submissions than any previous year, from a variety of different universities, both from Scotland, the UK and further afield.

The outgoing editors told Scottish Legal News: “We are extremely proud of this issue of the Edinburgh Student Law Review, which highlights the quality of work produced by law students during their degrees and is a culmination of a year of hard work by our dedicated editing team.

“We are delighted that the issue covers a wide variety of topics relevant to Scots law, covering everything from trusts to the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the criminalisation of the possession of drugs.

“We would like to thank all those who have contributed to the publication of this issue, whether that was by providing an article or being involved in the editing process.

“In particular, we would like to thank the Edinburgh Law School, our Honorary President, Lord Hope of Craighead, and our Honorary Secretary, Dr Andrew Steven, for their continued support, and Professor David Fox for writing our guest article on cryptocurrencies.”
