After a busy summer, the SYLA is back with a series “So you want to be…” events as well as an interprofessional networking evening in September. You can check out SYLA’s full calendar of events here.

So you want to be a judge? - Wednesday 19 September 2018, Atria One, Edinburgh

Aimed at students, trainees and beyond, SYLA has partnered with the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland for the first “So you want to be… event of the new SYLA year taking place at the Law Society in Edinburgh on 19 September 2018

Have you ever thought about becoming a member of the judiciary? Do you want to know more about what is involved? The panel will comprise of a sheriff, summary sheriff and tribunal president. Attendees will hear about how each of these individuals have forged a career on the bench and speakers will talk through a typical day (if there is one) in their role. The event will commence at 5.45pm for a 6pm sharp start and will be followed by a Q&A session. Numbers are limited so reserve your space here now.

So you want to be a private client lawyer? - Wednesday 26 September 2018, Glasgow

This will take place at Brodies LLP at 110 Queen Street, Glasgow from 5.30pm on Wednesday 26th September 2018. Members will hear from associate Helen Kidd, senior solicitor Susan Black, and trainee solicitor Claire Withers who will discuss their career paths to date and their interest in the private client sector.
