Emma Toner of Compass Chambers has been appointed editor of Session Cases, the Scottish Council of Law Reporting (SCLR) has announced.

Ms Toner, who had been deputy editor since 2016, succeeds Julius Komorowski, who has become a tribunal judge.

Mr Komorowski’s tenure as an editor was marked by a number of innovations, not least being the daily summaries issued of proceedings in high profile cases such as Cherry and others v Advocate General for Scotland.

Ms Toner is regularly instructed in the High Court of Justiciary and sheriff courts across Scotland, both as sole counsel and as junior counsel. She has conducted a wide range of trials, under both statute and common law, including cases involving financial crime.
