CMS has been named Scotland’s Employer of the Month in recognition for its work in helping young people develop their potential. The award was given by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), the Scottish government’s national strategy for strengthening links between businesses and education.

CMS was selected on the back of its investment into a number of initiatives that engage with young people to help build skills, confidence and knowledge to help them succeed.

These include support of the MCR Pathways programme which provides mentoring for young people and its involvement in Social Mobility Business Partnerships for youth facing socio-economic challenges.

The firm, which has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, also runs a programme called Prime, providing work experience for young people from less-privileged backgrounds, as well as its own CMS Bursary Scheme to help graduates entering the profession.

A key focus of the Scottish government, DYW’s headline aim is to reduce youth unemployment by 40 per cent by 2021. The strategy is delivered by employer-led regional groups across Scotland and Glasgow was the first DYW Group to launch back in 2014.

Since then, DYW Regional Groups have been launched in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, East Lothian & Midlothian, Fife, North East, North Highland and West Region.

Chris Rae, CMS’s corporate responsibility partner for Scotland said: “We are very pleased to be named Employer of the Month in recognition of our commitment to developing young people.

“We combine the expertise, talent and passion of our people to support a wide range of education and social mobility initiatives that we hope will inspire the next generation of professionals and equip them with the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed.

“We are delighted to support the work of DYW and would encourage all businesses, large or small, to get involved.”
