Clyde & Co announces retirement of Peter Anderson

Clyde & Co has announced the retirement of Peter Anderson, a partner in the Edinburgh office. He worked for over 40 years at Simpson & Marwick and Clyde & Co, and retires this year on Friday 27 April.

Mr Anderson began his career as an insurance lawyer in Edinburgh, joining Simpson & Marwick in 1975. Over the last 40 years, he developed in-depth knowledge and experience, specialising in complex high-value personal injury claims, professional negligence, commercial litigation and aviation disputes.

Throughout his career he has been at the forefront of the legal profession. He worked on several high-value cases, including personally representing Pan Am as part of the Lockerbie bombing fatal accident inquiry and playing an instrumental role in the setup of the Piper Alpha investigation and in the subsequent litigation.

Mr Anderson also gained many industry achievements. He was one of the first solicitor advocates in Scotland in 1994 and has taken key cases to the House of Lords.

Both leading legal directories, The Legal 500and Chambers and Partners, have recognised his expertise at the highest level across multiple specialisms.

He made significant contributions to the legal sector, devoting time to teaching students as a senior lecturer at Edinburgh University Law School and sitting as a part-time sheriff and acting as procurator fiscal to the Law Society of Scotland at disciplinary tribunals.

He has also been a member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeal Tribunal for many years and the legal advisor to the Royal Incorporation of Architectsin Scotland for more than 25 years.

He was recently appointed to the post of Competition Appeal Tribunal judge, underlining his expertise and reputation in the profession
