Advocates prepare for Christmas carol concert

The Faculty of Advocates’ choir is fine-tuning its festive songbook ahead of its traditional charity carol concert on Tuesday.

As it has done for the last 22 years, the choir will perform all the seasonal favourites at its Christmas concert in aid of Edinburgh’s homeless.

The concert will take place on Tuesday 18 December, at 7pm in St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church on George Street, Edinburgh.

Admission is free but a collection will be taken for Edinburgh City Mission which, over the years, has received thousands of pounds from the concerts.

Sheriff Ross Macfarlane QC, the choir’s artistic director, said: “We had no idea when we started that the Christmas concert would become such an institution in Edinburgh and we’re delighted to do this for such a good cause. We urge people to come along and experience the real spirit of Christmas.”

The choir was founded in 1996 and has performed in venues including St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Notre Dame in Paris, and Off-Broadway in New York.
