Solicitor (People and Court team) – Scottish Borders Council



We are looking to employ a solicitor to assist in delivering a range of high quality customer-focused specialist legal services to Council Departments, the Corporate Client and Elected Members to enable the efficient and effective delivery of corporate and strategic objectives.

The post will suit a candidate with a particular interest in litigation, Education and Social Work. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise within these areas of law and gain experience in Sheriff Court practice. The work is varied and a high level of responsibility will be given, together with appropriate team support.

There will also be an opportunity, together with an expectation of willingness, to diversify into other areas of local authority work and gain experience in a range of legal services.

The team places a strong emphasis on staff development and work/life balance. We offer flexible working hours and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

You should be a qualified solicitor or a trainee nearing the end of your traineeship. Continual professional development as required by the Law Society of Scotland is essential. You should have the confidence to work under limited supervision, with well-developed communication and IT skills.

Salary: £32,403.57 - £35,414.82 per year
