NEW CHAIRMAN FOR TAYSIDE PROPERTY CENTRE DUNDEE

Lawyer Hugh McKay has been elected chairman of the Tayside Solicitors Property Centre.

Hugh, managing partner with Lawson Coull and Duncan, follows on from Ross Paton as chairman and is just the eighth solicitor in more than 40 years to hold the office.

He said: "I am delighted to have been elected chairman of the Tayside Solicitors Property Centre in a year in which we will commemorate various important anniversaries. It is now 40 years since the Centre ¬ - then known as the Dundee Property Register - opened its first premises in Dundee's Seagate.

"It is also 25 years since the publication of the first edition of Tayside Solicitors Property Guide and landmark edition number 1,250 is due to be published later this year. The Centre has many achievements, of which we can be rightly proud, but it would be wrong to dwell too much on the past.

"The TSPC has remained at the forefront of estate agency in this area by continually adapting to change and ensuring that it enables its members to offer a complete property service - and it will continue to do so."

Dundee-born Hugh was brought-up in Dunblane but returned to his roots to study law in the city. After graduating from Dundee University, he joined local firm Lawson Coull and Duncan as a trainee in 1982 and has been a partner since 1986, specialising in conveyancing, mortgages and estate agency.

Hugh has been a board member and director of the Whitehall Crescent based TSPC since 1995. Away from the workplace, he is an enthusiastic golfer and long-time member of Dunblane Golf Club. Hugh, who represented Scotland in the marathon and once triumphed over the distance in Dundee, still trains regularly and is a member of the Fife Athletic Club.
