Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow
6pmOur ‘So you want to be…’ series continues on Wednesday 28th February 2018 in Glasgow. We are delighted that this seminar will run in conjunction with the Trainee and Newly Qualified Society of Scotland (TANQ) with the aim of giving all attendees an insight to the world of media lawyers.
At the event, we will hear from three media lawyers, Duncan Hamilton, David McKie and Rosalind McInnes. Each speaker will give an insight into their daily working lives as media lawyers and delegates will then have an opportunity to ask questions and network over refreshments.
Duncan Hamilton is top ranked advocate in media law by both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. He is heavily instructed in defamation, privacy and contempt proceedings by BBC Scotland and by national newspapers, commercial broadcasters and high profile individuals.
David McKie is a partner at Levy & McRae with considerable experience built up in a wide range of areas over 20 years. He specialises in media law, representing newspapers, TV and radio broadcasters and websites. He also represents high profile individuals, businesses and organisations in the protection of their reputations. David was head of media law at Glasgow University from 2009 – 16 and is a regular commentator in all forms of media.
With over 20 years’ experience at the BBC, Rosalind McInnes is one of the most experienced media law practitioners in Scotland. She is also the author of Scots Law for Journalists and Contempt of Court in Scotland.
