We are seeking an NQ-1 year pqe Solicitor to join our Conflict Resolution team in Glasgow. Our team, led by Steven Docherty, acts for businesses and individuals to resolve disputes and conflicts with the aim of securing the best possible outcome for our clients. The new member of the team will work with Steven on a wide range of Commercial Litigation and Employment work.
The role will involve representing pursuers and defenders in the Sheriff Court and Employment Tribunal as well as other forums. The work includes commercial disputes, contractual and property disputes, contentious construction and property disputes, and contentious and non-contentious insolvency. In addition there will be a variety of contentious and non-contentious employment matters such as advising on discipline and grievance procedures, unfair dismissal, redundancy, TUPE and discrimination issues for both employers and employees. This will be a varied role so adaptability within different aspects of the group is essential.
As well as having a CRG/Litigation seat as a Trainee, you will have an understanding of ADR procedures and a strong desire to develop in this area. You will be expected to undertake management of your own cases from an early stage and therefor you should be able to work on your own initiative, be very focused on time management and operate to deadlines. You should be able to build rapport and communicate positively and effectively with clients, other legal representatives and other involved parties. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing an excellent level of client service, have a positive attitude and be proactive.
You will also be expected to participate fully in the business development activities of the team and the Firm, and will be required to show a grasp of the financial disciplines required of a solicitor at your level.
Ongoing training will be provided to ensure continued development and expertise.
