We are a growing firm, currently with 28 Partners, specialising in the areas of private client, commercial property, corporate, commercial dispute resolution, renewable energy, healthcare, telecoms and family businesses. We have offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Dunblane.
We are seeking a 3-5 year’s + pqe Solicitor to join our Conflict Resolution team in Glasgow. Our team, led by Steven Docherty, acts for businesses and individuals to resolve disputes and conflicts with the aim of securing the best possible outcome for our clients. The new member of the team will work with Steven on a wide range of Commercial Litigation and Employment work.
The role will involve representing pursuers and defenders in the Sheriff Court and Employment Tribunal as well as other forums. The work includes commercial, contractual, contentious construction and property disputes, and contentious and non-contentious insolvency. In addition there will be a variety of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. This will be a varied role, so adaptability within different aspects of the team is essential.
Candidates will have a thorough understanding of Sheriff Court, tribunal and ADR procedures and a strong desire to build and develop their skills and practice in these areas. While you will be part of Steven’s team, you will be expected to undertake management of your own case load and therefore you should be able to work on your own initiative, be very focused on time management and comfortable in operating to deadlines. You should be able to build rapport and communicate positively and effectively with clients, other legal representatives and other involved parties. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing an excellent level of client service, have a positive attitude and be proactive.
You will also be expected to participate fully in the business development activities of the team and the Firm, and will be required to show a grasp of the financial disciplines required of a solicitor at your level.
Ongoing training will be provided to ensure continued development and expertise.
