The Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers’ Association (SEMLA) is a new group formed with the support of the Law Society of Scotland and the Faculty of Advocates. The aim of the group is to support and mentor ethnic minority lawyers and students in Scotland to assist their development within the profession.
SEMLA will be launching on Wednesday 5 July 2017 at the Law Society of Scotland’s offices in Edinburgh. The launch event will include high-profile speakers from the legal profession and an opportunity to learn more about SEMLA’s objectives and to network with other members of the profession. The background to the group’s launch was featured in The Herald in an article entitled “Ethnic minority lawyers group puts diversity at heart of profession”.
